VÍB Weath Management — a major financial organization in Iceland — is expected to hold an open educational session on the topic of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies this week, an announcement reads on the company’s official website.
A user posted the following snippet of information on the Auroracoin forums Friday:
In short, I work for VIB Wealth Management in Iceland, and next week we will be holding an open meeting on cryptocurrencies. A panel with expertise in the fields most relevant to cryptocurrencies, risk management, economics etc. Registration is open and the meeting will also be shown live on www.vib.is and a recording will be available afterwards at the same site. The meeting will be Icelandic but I still thought I’d express it in English as well for those interested.
At the session, economist and physicist Sveinn Valfells will speak about cryptocurrency use. Following that, a panel will take place with Martha Eiríksdóttir (consultant), Eyjólfur Gudmundsson (economist), Sverrir Þorvaldsson (Director of Risk at Íslandsbanki).
The session takes place on Wednesday, the 23rd of April at the Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavík. The meeting is open to all who wish to attend (though we’d imagine there will be some space constraint).
This isn’t the first time a major financial institution has held a meeting on digital currency. In mid-March, multi-national financial outfit J.P. Morgan held a bitcoin microfinance event in New York City.
